Molly got a doggie door today! When she wants in Jonathan's downstairs office she barks and scratches, she also does the same when she wants to leave his office! She does this many times a day so I thought, we need a doggie door. This will keep Jonathan from getting up and down so much from his chair.
Jonathan and daddy went to Lowes to check out doors, they had them in all sizes! They selected a small to medium sized door that looked appropriate for Molly. It's so cute! Molly wasn't interested in the door after we put it on Jonathan's office door, she didn't seem to understand our excitement! Well, that meant it was treat time! Jonathan got a handful of treats, went in his office and laid on the floor. He tried to coax her in but she wasn't going through that crazy contraption with a flap on it.
We had to get more serious! We got a paper plate and some peanutbutter and Molly went through the door to get the peanutbutter! But only once! We were literally begging Molly to go through that door but she didn't care! I thought of something that was going to get Molly to go through that door! We had roast beef for dinner. I put one tiny bite on a paper plate and gave it to her, she was excited now! Roast beef is her third favorite food, I then made sure she watched me put another tiny bite and I slipped it through the doggie door to Jonathan.
She hesitated for a moment but went through the door because Jonathan was showing her the meat. It's all it took! She went through the door twenty times, after about fifteen times she was going through it without being coaxed!
The door is now Molly's best friend. She comes and goes as she pleases. Jonathan said sometimes she expects a treat after coming through it. She also uses the door to escape from Christopher when he starts to chase her. She is very quick. He gets frustrated when she manages to get through the door before he can catch her.
I'll try to get a picture of her coming through the door this week!
